Everton have been linked with a deadline-beating late January transfer window swoop for Tanguy Ndombele but just what does he potentially offer the Blues?
Caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson admitted after the 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa that any further deals for the Blues – who have already brought in Vitalii Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson and Anwar El Ghazi (loan) this month before Rafa Benitez’s sacking – would be “down to other people.”
So despite not having a permanent boss when the rumours first appeared, Everton have reportedly sought to take the 25-year-old on loan.
The Blues could face stiff competition from other potential suitors including Paris Saint-Germain who are coached by Mauricio Pochettino, the manager who brought him to Spurs for a club record £55million fee back in 2019.
Given that Ndombele was born in Longjumeau, a Parisian suburb some 11 miles out from the centre of the French capital, that move could also provide him with the chance to return home.
However, if he does fancy an alternative route to cracking the Premier League, can he give Everton something different in the centre of the park?
Quick, powerful and versatile, Ndombele, who has displayed flashes of brilliance for the north London club but has found himself omitted from Antonio Conte’s last two matchday squads for the trips to Leicester City and Chelsea is often deployed as a box-to-box midfielder.
