Tammara Thibeault becomes new unified middleweight world champion

Tammara Thibeault has reached the top of the professional boxing world.

The 29-year-old from Shawinigan, Que., defeated Australia’s Desley Robinson by unanimous decision on Saturday in Orlando, Fla., to become the new unified IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine middleweight world champion.

Thibeault, the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion, improved her professional record to 5-0 with three knockouts, remaining undefeated in her young professional career. She claimed both Robinson’s IBF and WBO world titles with the victory.

With the win, Thibeault also captured the prestigious Ring Magazine middleweight championship, becoming the fastest professional fighter to earn the magazine’s world championship.
