Tam McManus in Rangers dig over Willie Collum row as he makes consistency case after snubbed Hibs penalty shout

Former Hibs hero Tam McManus has played down Rangers alerting the SFA to their concerns over referee Willie Collum - and insists Lee Johnson's side should have been awarded their own penalty.

The Ibrox side have launched an appeal against John Lundstram 's controversial red card at Easter Road, after his cynical foul that stopped Martin Boyle in his tracks was severely punished by the man in the middle. That was just the tip of the iceberg of the big calls in the capital, with Rocky Burshiri punished for a contentious foul on Antonio Colak in the box, which allowed James Tavernier to open the scoring in Leith.

Alfredo Morelos was also sent for an early bath after throwing his arm into the face of Marijan Cabraja, while Hibs defender Bushiri had his own penalty claim waved away. Tavernier appeared to have hold of the centre-back, but Collum waved away the claim.

McManus reckons Rangers raising an issues with the governing body just means "decisions went against them." He also insists that if a spot kick was given for the foul on Colak, the same should have applied with Bushiri.

When asked what the complaint about Collum means on The PLZ Football Show, McManus quipped: “It means a couple of decisions went against them, to be honest. It seems to be that when things go against Rangers there is a statement or somebody comes out with something.

“I think the two penalty kicks, if Willie is going to give one of them, he’s going to give both of them. In my opinion none of them are penalties.

"If you are going to give penalties for grappling in the box or small tugs you are going to give four or five a game with VAR. You can’t give that one and not give the Hibs one, but I think he got both of them wrong to be honest.”
