Talks opened: Leeds and Orta now working on move for another forward alongside CDK – report

Leeds United are in talks with the agent of PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

The Whites could be in for a busy few weeks when it comes to further incomings after already signing Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca.

Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere is thought to be at the ‘top of the list’ at Elland Road, with Leeds ‘pushing hard’ to sign the Belgian, who is viewed as an inside forward or a secondary forward who could support Patrick Bamford.

The 21-year-old may not be the only marquee attacking arrival, though, with an update emerging on another transfer target in Gakpo.

Galetti of Sport Italia TV and Tribal Football provided an update on Twitter regarding Leeds and Gakpo on Saturday evening.

Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink stated this week that Leeds were in talks with the Netherlands international, and Galetti has said that the Whites are now speaking to the winger’s agent and are focused on selling Raphinha to ‘maximise profits’.

It seems as if Leeds are going after De Ketelaere no matter what, but a move for Gakpo could rest on what happens with Raphinha.

The Brazilian appears to have his heart set on a move to Barcelona, even though an agreement has been reached between Leeds and Chelsea. The La Liga club’s financial issues could result in a potential transfer dragging on, which may then have an impact on Leeds’ pursuit of Gakpo.

The 23-year-old appears to be an ideal replacement for Raphinha after contributing to 36 goals in 46 games last season, but Victor Orta may have to wait for a green light due to the Brazilian’s situation.
