Symington Tinto's £1m pitch officially opened as MPs pay visit
Symington Tinto’s £1m 3G pitch was officially opened earlier this month by UK Government Minister for Scotland John Lamont.
The amateur football club received funding from the Scottish Football Partnership Trust, the SSE Clyde Wind Farm Fund and Scottish Football Association Grassroots Pitch and Facilities Fund totalling over £1m to transform their training pitches to a full size, floodlit 3G pitch in rural South Lanarkshire.
Symington Tinto, based just outside of Biggar, also plan to compete the major refurbishment of their clubhouse with a cafe, bar, gym and multiuser hall, in addition to expanded changing facilities.
Club secretary Gus Mackay said: “With huge, much appreciated support from the SFA Grassroots Pitch and Facilities Fund, provided by the Department for Digital, Culture Media and Sport (DCMS), Clyde Wind Farm, the Scottish Football Partnership and SSE Renewables, we have been able to deliver a first-class facility which will be of great benefit to our local community for years to come.”
The pitch was officially opened on Monday, February 12.
