Sydney Super Cup tickets STILL on sale despite Rangers pulling out of controversial tournament

Tickets for the Sydney Super Cup clash between Celtic and Rangers are still on sale despite the controversial fixture at the tournament being axed.

The match was scheduled for Sunday November 20 at the Accor Stadium in Sydney but the Ibrox club pulled out due to issues with the organisers.

Yet tickets - which were priced at almost £200 for the game between the rivals - are still being advertised for the match that won't go ahead.

There was real anger with both Celtic and Rangers fans staging protests against the match but plenty of supporters Down Under will be disappointed at the match being scrapped as they had a rare chance to see the Glasgow giants in action.

Rangers said: "After it became clear the tournament organisers were unwilling to fulfil their commitments to Rangers, we have, with immediate effect, terminated the club’s agreement with the organisers."

The competition was being billed as Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou 's homecoming which many were unhappy with.

Rangers fans had protested against their participation despite the £3 million prize pot however thousands of keen fans in Australia would have been highly-anticipating seeing their heroes up close.

The arch-rivals have still got to play each other twice in the league as they fight for Premiership glory and have a huge Scottish Cup semi-final clash next month which could be pivotal to determining both clubs seasons.
