Switzerland v Wales Women Live: Kick-off time and score updates from World Cup play-off final

The moment is almost here.

Gemma Grainger's Wales side will run out against Switzerland tonight (6pm UK kick-off) in the World Cup play-off final knowing this is the biggest match in their history so far.

They are bidding to reach their first-ever major tournament, the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Wales Women had never reached the play-offs before, but a dramatic 1-0 extra-time win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in the semi-final last week ensured the World Cup journey continued.

The hosts in Zurich are the favourites to win this clash, being ranked 21st (nine places above Wales), but Wales have proved over their 13-month qualifying campaign that they can do it the hard way.

A Welsh win would likely send Wales to the 10-team inter-confederation play-offs in New Zealand next February, where they would have one more hurdle to jump to qualify. A Welsh win by two or more goals in regular or extra time, combined with Portugal or Scotland winning on penalties in their respective play-off finals would see Wales automatically qualify tonight. Needless to say, defeat to Switzerland would end Wales' World Cup journey.
