Swansea City's Joel Piroe addresses transfer future and the unwavering confidence he has right now

Joel Piroe joined an illustrious group after scoring his 20th goal of the season against Derby County.

The Dutchman now features alongside Oli McBurnie, Wilfried Bony, Michu, Scott Sinclair, Jason Scotland and Lee Trundle on the list of players to hit 20 or more strikes in a single campaign for Swansea City since the club's stadium move in 2005. Piroe still has six games left to add to his tally - which, remarkably, does not include a single set-piece goal or a penalty.

Russell Martin has regularly noted Piroe's ability to remain calm in front of goal, regardless of any panic or chaos around him. And the 22-year-old's unwavering confidence perhaps makes his ruthlessness in key areas more understandable.

“I think it always came easily to me," Piroe said of his talents in front of the net. "A ball like this, rolled really slow to me, as a striker you have to be able to hit that clean.

"I just try to make the right decision. I try to recognise how much space I have before I get the ball. If you know that you have a lot of space, you can just pick a corner. If you see the goalkeeper is moving to the short corner, you can try to hit it in the long one and vice versa.”

The forward bagged three of his side's seven goals in a week which saw the Swans claim three successive triumphs for the first time under the current coaching regime. All three were first time strikes and required immense levels of precision and composure - two attributes Piroe has in abundance.
