Swansea City fans pile in as Steve Cooper secures Nottingham Forest promotion
Swansea City fans have been reflecting on what could have been after former boss Steve Cooper achieved promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.
Cooper, 42, has reached two Championship play-off finals in the last three years but has only been successful once. That single victory came on Sunday (May 29) as the Welshman guided the Reds to a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium.
The achievement is particularly impressive give Forest were bottom of the Championship standings when Cooper picked up the reins from Chris Hughton back in September 2021.
"I'm really pleased for the players and the supporters," an emotional Cooper said at full-time to Sky Sports. "Everybody connected with the football club deserves this today and we're now really looking forward to a positive future.
"It's relief and pride - this isn't about me but it's changed my life, potentially anyway. We've brought Nottingham to Wembley today, we've taken over the place and here we are in the Premier League."
