Swanley Boxing Club's Tyler Chambers wants shot at professional game after ABA title win at Roundhouse in Dagenham

Swanley Boxing Club’s Tyler Chambers is a national champion after a winning weekend at the Roundhouse in Dagenham.

Chambers, 18, was up against Broad Street’s Tommy Borg in the ABA semi-finals after a bye in the last eight and, despite a six-year age gap, won with a first-round stoppage.

Another fighter Chambers’ senior awaited him in the under-60kg final in Honour and Glory’s Luke Jossa, 22.

This time Chambers went three rounds but his superior craftsmanship showed for a unanimous decision and the national ABA championship belt.

Coach Eddie Welsh puts Chambers’ success down to good, old-fashioned hard work.

“Tyler trains hard in the gym, he’s always there,” said Welsh.

“The next thing he wants to do is turn professional so we’ll apply to the British Boxing Board of Control for a licence.

“Some of the lads miss a session and I’m like, where were you? With Tyler I can’t fault his dedication. He’s there all the time.”
