Sven Botman admits he will keep his feet on the ground after securing his £35million move to Newcastle United.

The Magpies' latest summer recruit is keen to hit the ground running and will link up with his new team-mates on Wednesday after being granted an extra few days off due to international commitments with Holland Under-21s. The deal was completed in time for Botman to play a big part in pre-season and he could make his debut on the club's tour of Austria.

Botman, speaking to De Telegraaf, was asked about his price tag and said: "I don’t and I actually don’t want to think of that. This is how the world of football and the transfer market are developing. "I am still the down-to-earth kid from Badhoevedorp."

When asked about Newcastle's summer pursuit, which saw them outbid AC Milan, Botman added: "It just shows how keen Newcastle United were to capture my signature. It has boosted my confidence and it’s up to me now to repay that trust."
