Sven Botman claims transfer news arriving ‘almost every day’ as Newcastle, AC Milan battle for deal
Newcastle target Sven Botman has admitted that he is hearing news about AC Milan interest “almost every day”, with his Lille future in serious doubt.
The Netherlands Under-21 international has attracted interest following an impressive spell in Ligue 1. The Magpies targeted a swoop in the January transfer window but could not get a deal over the line.
In the meantime, Milan have worked on persuading Botman over a move to Italy to advance his career.
Botman recently confirmed that “talks are underway” over his future. He added that he wants to seal his next move in time for pre-season at whichever club signs him.
Speaking in a fresh interview with ESPN, the the 22-year-old revealed that he is hearing regular updates – more so about Milan than Newcastle.
“AC Milan deal? We are working on that,” Botman said. “It’s difficult for me to stay distant from things at the moment, I hear something about this almost every day.
“Things are in progress and I hope there will be more clarity before the pre-season.”
Botman played 32 games in the 2021/22 season but struggled with groin and hamstring injuries.
