Surprise Premier League suitor plotting £15m raid for Arsenal, Tottenham target

Brentford are reportedly plotting an ambitious £15 million bid for Middlesbrough defender and Arsenal and Tottenham target, Djed Spence.

Currently on-loan with Nottingham Forest, Spence has set the Championship alight with his performances this season. The 21-year-old has already been linked to the Premier League, with both Tottenham and Arsenal interested. But now, Brentford are reportedly hoping to compete with the big guns and secure the wing-back for themselves.

According to The Sun, Brentford are ‘deadly serious’ about pulling off a coup to sign Spence this summer.

Brentford believe that the London-born star would suit their playing style perfectly and are prepared to splash the cash.

Having played 35 matches for Forest this season, Spence has played a huge role in their pursuit of Premier League football.

Currently fourth in the table, Steve Cooper’s men are likely to be competing inside the play-offs for a top flight spot next month.

And if promotion is achieved, Forest will no doubt also be interested in keeping hold of Spence for their Premier League campaign.

While an exact fee has not been given, it is believed that Boro are prepared to sell in summer to whoever is the highest bidder.

With Brentford reportedly prepared to spend £15 million, it will then be up to the other clubs to compete with that offer.

Spence has spoken about his ambitions to play top flight football in the past.
