'Sure that was questioned' - Ian Evatt's belief in Bolton midfielder George Thomason after Charlton choice

Ian Evatt admits the selection of George Thomson to start against Charlton Athletic may have been questioned before the game but believes the Bolton Wanderers midfielder showed his quality in the win and illustrated why he is a fully fledged first team player.

Scott Fraser put the hosts into the lead early on after capitalising on George Johnston's error. But Bradley struck not long after to put Bolton back on level terms.

The Whites went ahead before the break when Kieran Lee found the net. After half-time, Johnston helped to atone for his earlier error to score Bolton's third.

Wanderers also had to call upon James Trafford to contain the visitors, denying Jesurn Rak-Sakyi on a couple of occasions as they won 3-1. The win sees Bolton sitting eighth in the table on 11 points.

Thomason kept his place in the team following the midweek Papa Johns Trophy victory over Crewe Alex. He repaid that faith with a fantastic display and won the club's man of the match online poll.

It was the first start of the season for Thomason, who has huge competition in the form of Josh Sheehan, Aaron Morley, MJ Williams, Kyle Dempsey and Kieran Lee to contend with. But Evatt believes Thomason took his opportunity with both hands as the Bolton boss believes the youngster is a fully fledged member of the first team squad now.

He said: “I’m sure that was questioned pre-match, but I have a huge amount of belief in them all and I thought the way George has been performing in training and the opportunities he’s had in games he’s took it with both hands. Today he showed everyone what a good player he is.
