'Superstar' Asda worker helps 'unsteady' pensioner with heartwarming act of kindness

A "superstar" Asda worker in Wigan has been praised for his heartwarming act of kindness for a pensioner who was "unsteady" during his daily shop.

Dave, the ambient section lead at the Hindley branch of Asda, was working at the store when a regular customer in his 70s came in, stopping to talk to the supermarket employee, who's worked at the store for the last decade. The pensioner had walked to the store that day from his home three-quarters-of-a-mile away, but Dave didn't want to leave him to walk the whole way home again with his shopping, so offered to give the older man a lift home to make sure he was ok.

With all that we've gone through over the last few years, it's nice to be nice."

The 47-year-old was nominated for an Asda service superstar award by store manager Kirsty, who said: "It was such a kind and caring thing to do and the customer was so grateful for his help that day. Thanks Dave, you are a superstar." The sweet gesture was shared onto the supermarket's Facebook page, and customers were instantly impressed with Dave's kindness.

One commenter said: "So lovely reading something good for a change , it’s lovely knowing that someone
