Supercomputer predicts where Leicester City will finish in the Premier League this season

Leicester City have eyes on climbing the Premier League table in the final part of the season after what has been a difficult campaign.

City currently sit in 10th place in the league table, having picked up 36 points from their opening 27 games. The team are 12 points adrift of West Ham in seventh position, but do have three games in hand over the Hammers.

Brendan Rodgers also now has players returning from injury. Defender Wesley Fofana made a goalscoring return in the Europa Conference League clash against Rennes, while both Timothy Castagne and Jonny Evans made their comebacks against Brentford last weekend.

Striker and talisman Jamie Vardy is also closing in on a return while James Justin and Ricardo Pereira have also made successful comebacks from injury. City therefore now suddenly have a lot more squad options compared to the rest of the season.

While some members of the squad are away on international duty, the ones that have stayed at Seagrave will now be stepping up their preparations for the return of Premier League football. City restart on Saturday with a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

Ahead of that game, data experts FiveThirtyEight have crunched the numbers to predict what the Premier League table could look like at the end of the season. The prediction sees City move up one place to finish the season in ninth, on 51 points, eight points adrift of West Ham in seventh.

The ‘supercomputer’ says that City have a 26 percent chance of finishing in ninth place at the end of the season and a 19 percent chance of finishing 10th. The chances of finishing in eight place are rated at 14 percent while the team are said to have a six percent chance of finishing seventh.
