Super Rugby Pacific: Moana Pasifika recharged for Rebels clash

Moana Pasifika is full of energy and looking forward to their clash with the Rebels after yet another postponed game last week.

The Super Rugby Pacific newcomers were set to take on the Western Force in the Super Round, but the game was postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the Force camp.

Moana Pasifika is reportedly pushing for Western Force to give up points for the clash as it is their fourth postponed game this season, and the side endured an intensive period catching up on the previous games.

For the moment, coach Aaron Mauger is focused on their clash with Rebels, their first clash with an Australian opponent.

“We’re just really focused on on this game against the Rebels and we really want to set ourselves up to be in a good position to attack the second half of the competition,” Mauger told AAP

“I know we won’t be playing any make-up games the next few weeks.”

The weekend off offered Mauger’s men a chance to rest and bond after a hectic period, and they are looking to push for their second win.

“We have had an opportunity to freshen up and spend some time together socially as a team,” Mauger said.

“I certainly noticed the energy of the guys coming into the start of this week for a big game against the Rebels – it was a lot higher than what would normally be.

“We just had to look at the positives and really turn our attention to this game against the Rebels, which is going to be another big challenge.”

Having watched the Rebels from the stands last weekend, Moana Pasifika is under no illusions that it will be a tricky clash.

“We went to watch the Rebels play last week live and they did a lot of things really well,” he said.

“They had the Crusaders under a lot of pressure at times, especially with their big pack
