Sundowns, CT City's CAF Champions League opponents announced

Cape Town City have learnt their opponents for the CAF Champions League preliminary round following Tuesday's competition draw in Egypt.

The Citizens ended the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season in second place behind Champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a bye for the preliminary first round.

Eric Tinkler's side will face Congo Brazzaville outfit AS Otoho D'Oyo.

The winner of City's clash over two legs will face the winners of the preliminary round tie between Associacao Black Bulls and Angolan side Atletico Petroleos de Luanda.

Meanwhile, Sundowns are set to come face-to-face against Coton Sport or ASEC Mimosas in the preliminary second round.

The preliminary first round fixture (first-leg) will take place on the weekend of 9-11 September, with the second leg a week later.

Meanwhile, the preliminary second round (first-leg) matches kick-start after the international break on the weekend of 7-9 October.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Marumo Gallants, last season's Nedbank Cup runners-up, have been afforded a bye in the first round, while Royal AM will take on Mbabane Highlanders of Eswathini.
