Sunday Brunch hit with viewer complaints after expletive-ridden show
Today's episode of Sunday Brunch stirred up a flurry of viewer complaints after multiple expletives were heard on the family morning programme, well before the generally accepted watershed.
In the UK, broadcasters must comply with regulations that prohibit the use of strong language before 9 pm across all channels.
During the Sunday show, viewers reported hearing the words "p***k" and "p****d", leading to an on-air apology as audience members expressed their displeasure. One viewer even claimed host Tim Lovejoy seemed to be spurring on the explicit expressions.
Cheese connoisseur Morgan McGlynn appeared to slip up regarding the strict no-swearing policy while presenting food from her renowned Muswell Hill shop on the show. She uttered the word "p****d", which prompted Tim to interject: "Language," followed by her immediate apology.
He commented: "Why is everyone swearing this morning, can I apologise for Morgan swearing", reports the Mirror.
The proprietor had been detailing to Tim and Simon how her establishment often has customers queueing for more than an hour eager to taste her products. To help ease the lengthy wait, her staff distributes wine and small treats to those in line.
She conveyed that this thoughtful gesture was well-received, though it sometimes resulted in patrons being a bit unsteady by the time they sat down to eat. Alas, instead of using a suitable term, she let slip a swear word to describe the effect.
Viewers were certain they also heard guest Phil Dunning use an expletive twice during the show.
One disgruntled fan took to Twitter to express their annoyance, stating: "#sundaybrunch if someone swears on tv you don't want them to do it twice which Tim encouraged him to do again." Another chimed in
