Sun sets on Sundowns' CAF Champions League as own goal secures Wydad's ticket to final

Mamelodi Sundowns exited the CAF Champions League at the semi-final stage thanks to a 2-2 draw with Morocco's Wydad Athletic Club, a result that saw them crash out on the away goals rule.
Last week's first leg ended in a goalless draw, meaning that Sundowns only needed to win at home. However, they couldn't hang onto two leads despite goals from Themba Zwane and Peter Shalulile, with Wydad equalising twice through Ayoub el-Amloud and an own goal from defender Mothobi Mvala.
The result meant the defending champions, Wydad, will meet Egypt's Al-Ahly in next month's two-legged final.
