Suleiman Danladi leads Pogradeci into crucial promotion clash in Albanian league

Suleiman Danladi, who has taken the Albanian football scene by storm, can’t wait to engage his club’s closest rival for the sole automatic promotion ticket this weekend.

Danladi, a product of Remo Soccer Academy, currently plays for league leaders, Pogradeci FC, and will be firing from all cylinders with hope that all his teammates come to the party as they engage second placed Luftetari FC on Saturday, April 27.

Luftetari are breathing down the neck of Pogradeci in the Kategoria e Dytë, with only one point separating both sides.

Kategoria e Dytë is the third professional level of football in Albania’s football league system. It was called the Second Division until 2003.

Pogradeci, who are yet to lose a league game this season, have 48 points, while their opponents, Luftetari have 47 points and have lost only once in the league all season. That sole loss for Luftetari was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Pogradeci.

The question on everybody’s lips is if Luftetari will be able to inflict a first league defeat of the season on Pogradeci this weekend, or will the visitors seal their promotion ticket at the backyard of their opponents?

The top placed team will pick an automatic ticket to the Kategoria e Parë.

With only two matches left to draw the curtain on the Albanian third division, a win for Pogradeci will give them an unassailable 51 points and promotion to the Kategoria e Parë, Albania’s second division, while Luftetari will have to depend on the playoffs to secure a spot in the Albanian elite division.
