Stuart O'Keefe voted Gillingham supporters' player of the year 2021/22

Gillingham captain Stuart O’Keefe has been named the club’s player-of-the-year.

The 31-year-old midfielder took over the captaincy from Kyle Dempsey after he moved to Bolton Wanderers in January.

O’Keefe has played on in the latter few weeks of the season despite picking up a calf injury. He has been with the Gills since the summer of 2019, making close to 100 league appearances for the club.

Defender Jack Tucker was named the club’s young player of the year. He was also the player-of-the-year for the club’s main sponsors MEMS.

The Elliott Scally Cup for special achievements went to head of physiotherapy Gary Hemens.

Full-back Robbie McKenzie took the players’ player-of-the-year award.

Club chairman Paul Scally said: “One thing is for sure, despite the setbacks, we will come back.

“We will be a better club next season."

Young player of the year Jack Tucker scored the goal of the season against Wycombe.
