Strictly's Janette Manrara given life-changing first date admission by husband Aljaz Skorjanec
Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara has revealed that her husband Aljaz Skorjanec expressed his desire to become a father on their first date - a sentiment she did not initially share at the time. The professional dancers, who married in 2017 and welcomed their daughter Lyra Rose last July, had different views on parenthood at the start of their relationship.
Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy mum Happy Baby podcast, Strictly star Janette shared: "Well, literally the first date that we had, the first thing Aljaz said basically was: 'I can't wait to be a dad.'"
She continued: "That was like on day one in the conversation. And I had a very different story. If I'm honest, I actually sat my mother down and said to her: 'Mum, I don't think I'm going to be a mum.'"
The 41 year old American dancer confessed that her initial hesitation stemmed from her career ambitions and desire to travel. However, since welcoming Lyra, she describes their family as a 'massive team' that 'works really well'.
Janette concluded: "But luckily, I think I chose that I did want to be a mother and I did want to have a child because I found the right person to do that with."
Janette Manrara, presenter of Strictly's It Takes Two, has opened up about her thoughts on motherhood and her relationship with Aljaz Skorjanec. "For me, it stems from 'I think I do want to be a mother, but it has to be with the right person. And when I met him (Aljaz) and our story started, that really shifted."
Aljaz, originally from Slovenia, has just completed the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing as one of the professional dancers, finishing as runner-up with his celebrity dance partner, model Tasha Ghouri, reports Lancs Live.
