Strictly's Amy Dowden came close to death druing chemotherapy as she faces further 'investigation'

Amy Dowden has shared how she almost died during her on-going treatment for cancer. The Strictly Come Dancing star has been candidly and bravely sharing her journey after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.

Amy, who is taking a break from the BBC One dance content amid treatment, announced in June she had been diagnosed with cancer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction after receiving her cancer diagnosis. After her first chemo, Amy said she “felt great”, going for a five-mile walk with her dad two days later – but collapsing soon after. “I had a temperature and didn’t realise the severity of having a temperature," she explained. "I stood up, collapsed, Mum rang the emergency number and they said ‘phone an ambulance immediately’. From there everything got very serious.
