Strathclyde Sirens star Beth Goodwin says consistency is key in play-off push

Sirens star Beth Goodwin says consistency will be key to helping them help the climb the table and hopefully bag a play-off slot this season.

The 23-year-old from Cambuslang produced a last-gasp equaliser in last Friday’s 52-52 draw at home to Leeds Rhinos to leave Sirens seventh after five games of the 2023 Netball Superleague.

Having lost three and won one in their previous matches, Goodwin says they need to start stringing results together if their are to achieve their aim of a top-four finish as they already sit four points off the play-offs.

She said: “We’re hoping to get to the top four so we can get into the play-offs.

“We’re just taking it a game at a time, though, to really focus on ourselves and improve on the aspects of our game that we need to, to get the results and put us in that position.

“We can take confidence from our games so far, and we just want to keep building on that.

“As the season goes on, we’ll definitely keep our confidence high if we put out performances like we have been.

“We want to stay consistent and get the results to match that.”

Goodwin hopes that draw with Leeds Rhinos will boost them ahead of Monday’s trip to London Pulse, and was pleased to play a role in the result.

She added: “London Pulse will be a really difficult game, they’ve been in great form, so that will be a really good test.

“Mavericks as well the next Friday will be a really good game to show what we can do against them.

“It was a tight game against Rhinos. They’re a great side with some quality players and we knew it was going to be a tough battle.

“It was goal-for-goal for quite a lot of the match. We did manage to get a bit of a lead, and they pulled it back, so we were chasing in the last quarter.
