Stormers mentor Dobson praises diamond Dayimani after starring role in Bulls win

Stormers coach John Dobson praised Hacjivah Dayimani's increased work rate and abrasiveness as the Stormers go into the bye week filled with happiness.

Dayimani didn't finish the Stormers' 19-17 win against the Bulls on Saturday because of being sin-binned for a high tackle on Kurt-Lee Arendse.

However, he was voted as man-of-the-match and scored the Stormers' only try, but one that ensured the Stormers are fifth on the overall log and top of the South African conference.

Dobson didn't have an issue with referee Frank Murphy's decision to yellow card Dayimani, but was chuffed with the loose-forward's output.

"He's been outstanding and when he played three of those local derbies, we how much work he does," Dobson said.

"He's got a powerful story and it's difficult to believe that he's 23. We know what he brings on attack, but he also covers a lot of ground, but I also have no qualms with what happened to him."

Superb showings from flyhalf Manie Libbok and utility back Damian Willemse underpinned the Stormers' ninth win of the season.

The Stormers' forwards also put in a big shift, with Dobson saying they were slightly sluggish with the attacking breakdowns.

"A department where I think we were poor was in the attacking breakdown. I think we gave away at least three penalties there," Dobson said.

"There were glimpses of our intent and the game didn't end up as a massive arm-wrestle, so we didn't get what we wanted in terms of flow.

"I know how good Damian was at 12, but with Warrick Gelant out, I think he was outstanding and also, we don't train drop goals.

"There was an air of authority with regards to Manie and I thought he was spot on with his kicking game, it was a really mature performance by Manie."
