Stormers coach says Dweba can 'back up words' about Munster

Stormers coach Rito Hlungwani says hooker Joseph Dweba is a player who can "back up his own words" after the hooker promised Munster a beating, in not so many words, in the BKT URC final.

A video emerged on social media of the Stormers coaches, players and families' reaction to Munster’s surprise semi-final win over Leinster.

Due to the regular season seedings, the result meant that the Cape Town team avoided another grueling long-haul flight to Europe, where they have, between URC and Heineken Champions Cup ties, travelled to six times this season.

Head coach John Dobson, whose team are the defending champions, addressed the video last week saying, "wives and girlfriends are there, and suddenly their husbands aren’t going to be away for 10 days, and we can be playing in front of the Cape Town people again.

"It was a game we were half-watching, and then it suddenly all became real."

During the clip, the camera panned to Dweba, a former Cheetahs and Bordeaux player, and the 27-year-old shouted: "We’re going to f*** them up. Yeah!"

Speaking to RTÉ Sport at their Monday press conference, forwards coach Hlungwani said of the Springboks player: "Joseph is a very bubbly player, he’s got a bit of a mouth on him.

"But he’s one guy who usually backs up his words, you know.

"I mean, him saying what was said, it wasn’t something that was meant to go out to the public...so it’s not necessarily his fault but, you know, if there’s one guy that I would sort of back to back up his own words, it’s Joseph.

"It's not something that we really had a long chat about.

"At the end of the day, we respect Munster, probably the only team that we haven’t beaten in the URC.

"They’re coming here with a strong team, so it’s a team we will respect highly."
