Stoke City will be determined to reach new heights in the Championship when the 2022/23 campaign gets underway.

Despite demonstrating some glimpses of promise during the previous term, a lack of consistency resulted in the Potters slipping out of play-off contention as they were eventually forced to settle for a 14th place finish in the league standings.

In terms of incomings this summer, Stoke have managed to bolster their squad by securing the services of three players.

Alfie McCarron, Josh Laurent and Harry Clarke could all be in line to feature for the Potters in their clash with Millwall next month after joining the club.

In terms of the defence, Harry Souttar is the obvious choice for the centre-back position as he excelled in the opening stages of the 2020/21 season before picking up a serious knee injury.

Souttar won 4.4 aerial duels per game in the Championship and also made 5.7 clearances per fixture at this level.

Lewis Baker is accompanied by Nick Powell in the advanced positions in this team.

Baker would be able to provide support at both ends of the pitch as he made 1.4 tackles per game last season and was directly involved in 10 goals for his side.
