Stoke City 3-0 Swansea City: Potters put Russell Martin's men to the sword on night to forget for 10-man Swans

Swansea City endured a torrid night as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Stoke City in a game that saw Ryan Bennett shown a straight red card.

The Swans failed to get started at the bet365 Stadium but managed to stifle the Potters sufficiently until half-time after the home side spurned some decent openings.

But Stoke got the goal their efforts warranted as Jaden Philogene-Bidace struck two minutes into the second-half.

They doubled their lead soon after as Lewis Baker converted a penalty after Bennett was dismissed for a handball in front of his own goal before Jacob Brown added a late third on what was a night to forget for Russell Martin's side.

The Swans made three changes to the side that started the 1-0 triumph over Blackburn Rovers three days earlier - with Bennett replacing the suspended Ryan Manning on the right of his side's back three.

And head coach Martin was eager to freshen things up further up the pitch following a monumental effort against Tony Mowbray's men as Korey Smith and Jay Fulton started in place of Jamie Paterson and Joel Piroe who both dropped to the bench.

It would have been difficult to believe that the Potters had lost their previous three league matches on home soil after watching their first-half showing against the Swans.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis was unable guide his header from a wide free-kick on target after Ben Cabango mistakenly handled the ball inside two minutes.

Former Swan Ben Wilmot then saw his close-range strike deflected behind as Michael O'Neill's men continued to look threatening early on - with Andy Fisher denying Philogene-Bidace what would have been a sublime solo goal after a quickly taken free-kick.
