Stirling Albion boss says if team keep winning they might still reach play-offs

Stirling Albion boss Darren Young has told his players to keep winning and they might just be rewarded for their efforts come the end of the season.

The Binos head for Central Park to face Cowdenbeath on Saturday as they enter the final month of their cinch League Two campaign.

The Forthbank outfit are currently seventh in the standings with five games left to play.

Fourth-placed Edinburgh City, who occupy the final play-off berth, are eight points better off ahead of their fixture against champions Kelty Hearts on Friday night.

Young said: “All we can do is keep winning games and see where it takes us.

I was delighted for the players that we got the win against Stranraer last weekend and for the fans, as they gave us great backing.”

“It moves us two points behind Stranraer and means we have the chance to go above them at the weekend.”

The Binos were beaten 1-0 on their last visit in December as the Blue Brazil earned their first victory since beating Fraserburgh in the Challenge Cup four months earlier.

That game turned out to be the final match in charge for former boss Kevin Rutkiewicz, who tendered his resignation a few days later after more than three years at the helm.

Stirling came out on top when they faced Cowdenbeath in a rearranged midweek fixture in February thanks to a double from Dale Carrick but the ex-Airdrie striker has missed recent games due to injury.

Top scorer Dylan Mackin is still suspended following his red card in the 1-0 defeat to Albion Rovers.

Maurice Ross’ side have drawn their last two games against promotion-chasing Stenhousemuir and Forfar but are 12 points adrift of Elgin City at the foot of the table and are heavy favourites for a play-off against Bonnyrigg Rose, Fraserburgh or Buckie
