Stirling Albion boss Darren Young calls for side to be ruthless after Albion Rovers draw

Stirling Albion manager Darren Young was again left frustrated after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Albion Rovers at Forthbank on Saturday.

Kyle Banner headed the Binos in front from a Kai Fotheringham corner early in the second half but a mistake by Adam Cummins allowed Charie Reilly to grab the equaliser eight minutes later.

They missed several good chances to win the game but were also grateful to skipper Paul McLean for a last minute interception when Reilly got clear of the defence, but the skipper did well to recover ground and his challenge forced the former Partick Thistle man to miss the target.

Next up is a trip to Station Park to play Forfar Athletic on Saturday with Gary Irvine’s men having slipped to the foot of the early cinch League 2 table after losing 2-1 to Annan Athletic at Galabank.

The Loons were runners-up to runaway champions Kelty Hearts last season before losing to Annan in the play-offs but Albion had a good record across the four meetings, losing just once. They triumphed 1-0 on their last visit to Station Park in March thanks to a goal from Akeel Francis.

It’s been a mixed bag of a campaign so far for Stirling, with two wins, two draws and two defeats - one of which was a 1-0 reverse at Bonnyrigg in their last away outing.

Young will hope they can get back to winning ways in the upcoming games with Forfar on Saturday and at home to Stranraer on September 17, with no fixture on September 24 due to the early exit to Highland League leaders Brechin City in the SPFL Trust Trophy.
