"Still complicated..": Fabrizio Romano drops Liverpool update that'll worry supporters - opinion

There has been mounting speculation surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool due to his contract expiring in June 2023, and now a reliable source has given a new update.

Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the ongoing situation at Liverpool with Egyptian winger Salah.

Romano tweeted;

“Mo Salah situation has not changed, as of now. He doesn’t want to leave Liverpool this summer – but new contract talks are still complicated, up to the club for the next months. #LFC.

“Liverpool will have to improve their proposal or Salah could leave on a free next year.”

There is no doubt that supporters will be worried about the stalemate the powers at Anfield have found themselves at with one of the club’s best players in the team, and the thought of him leaving on a free next summer would be hard to take.

Salah has been part of one of the most successful teams Liverpool have ever built with the club winning the Champions League, Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup since the Egypt captain joined in the summer of 2017.

The 30-year-old goal machine has scored 156 goals and contributed 63 assists in 254 appearances with a goal involvement every 94 minutes which is an impressive output that puts the right winger ninth in the top ten all-time Liverpool goal-scorers.

With that being said, it would clearly be no easy task to replace Salah if he was to leave the club next season, especially when it is reported that he prefers to remain in the Premier League and could end up joining a title competitor due to his unrivalled attacking output that has seen him win three golden boots in the league.
