Stewartry Gymnastics Club enjoy success at West Lothian GC floor and vault competition

Stewartry Gymnastics Club recently attended a floor and vault hosted by West Lothian GC.

As the event was so popular, it was split over two separate weekends to ensure all the entries could take part safely.

The first weekend saw the seven and nine years and beginners and intermediate groups take part with some fantastic result.

In the age seven group, Meadow McLachlan picked up a fifth place ribbon. This is a super achievement as this was her first competition after recently joining the two-piece squad.

In the nine years group, Lexie Anderson performed brilliantly on both pieces of apparatus to finish 10th.

At intermediate level, the girls had great success.

Nine years gymnast Abbie McRobert finished second.

The age 10/11 team performed exceptionally well, picking up a gold medal as a team as well as individual awards.

Isla Smith was fourth overall, Freya Macintosh was second and Mia Kerr was overall champion, taking home the gold medal.

The age 12/13 team picked up the bronze medal with Rebecca Smith getting a sixth place ribbon for her individual overall score.

The age 14+ team was also awarded a bronze medal for their performances.

On Saturday, the 10/11 beginners and 12-3 beginners had their chance and it was worth the wait.

The 12/13 team showed off some fantastic routines to pick up the bronze medal with team-mate Reece Shaw awarded bronze for her individual overall score. The 10/11 team made big improvements to their routines ahead of the event and Hannah Brough won gold with a fantastic overall score of 25.90.

The teams will be attending an event hosted by City of Edinburgh GC later this month and they are looking forward to being back out on the competition floor.
