Stewartry Gymnastic Club takes part in floor and vault competition in Edinburgh
Stewartry Gymnastics Club recently took part in a floor and vault competition hosted by City of Edinburgh Gymnastics Club.
The teams had another fabulous day, bringing home many accolades whilst having true team spirit.
In the beginner category, seven years gymnast Meadow McLachlan finished fourth on floor and nine years gymnast Lexie Anderson debuted a new floor routine to take gold. She finished seventh on vault, meaning she was also awarded a silver medal for her overall score. 12/13 years gymnast Skye Hiddleston had a super vault and was awarded a fifth place ribbon.
In the intermediate category, nine years gymnast Abbie McRobert was awarded three bronze medals coming in third on floor, vault and overall.
The 10/11 aged team had a fantastic day picking up lots of individual awards. Libby Earl was sixth on floor, Mia Kerr was sixth on vault and fifth on floor and Freya Macintosh was fourth on floor, awarded a bronze medal for vault and finished with a bronze medal overall. Alongside their teammates Isla Smith and Isla Pole, the girls were crowned team championships being awarded the gold medal for their combined scores.
The 12/13 age group saw a mix up with scores during medal ceremony and the Stewartry girls showed such class and good sportsmanship whilst awards were rectified. They finished strong with Anna Dunlop placing sixth on vault, fifth on floor and sixth overall. Rebecca Smith was awarded three fifth places for floor, vault and overall and Isla McFarlane took the silver medal for floor and finished with the bronze medal overall. Alongside their teammates Reece Shaw and Lexi Low they were also made it to the top of the podium being awarded gold as a team.
The 14+ gymnasts rounded off the day with more awards.
