Steve Evans makes claim over Bradford City job

Steve Evans has told the Yorkshire Post that he believes he could get Bradford City into the play-offs in Sky Bet League Two if he was offered the job.

The much travelled manager has been out of work since leaving Gillingham earlier in the season and has already been strongly linked with the vacant position at the Utilita Energy Stadium following the departure of Derek Adams.

Evans has now made it clear that he would be very interested in taking over the Bantams, having already knocked back other offers from League Two clubs as he seeks to wait for the right opportunity.

Speaking openly about his interest recently, Evans was quick to state the following on what he feels he could offer the club if he got the job:

“If it was right for me, there would be no conversation. If Bradford came and it sounded right – and both of us were right – they’d be in the play-offs at the end of the season.”

Bradford are currently sat in 12th place of the League Two standings and are just eight points off the final play-off place at the time of writing.

They have been looking for a new manager since bidding farewell to Adams earlier on this month.

The Verdict

Bradford are desperate to get promoted this season after spending a lot of money to assemble a squad that is capable of doing just that.

However things just haven’t worked out under Adams and for one reason or another they have chosen to go down a different route.

Evans offers a safe pair of hands who has plenty of previous promotions on his CV and it is clear that he would be willing to take on the job straight away.

It seems like the right match for the club but it is down to them now as he has put the ball in their court.
