Steve Day becomes lead commentator for BSB on Eurosport
Discovery Eurosport has announced Steve Day as the new lead commentator for the upcoming Bennetts British Superbike Championship season.
Having previously covered WorldSBK and, crucially, nordic combined skiing, earlier in his career for Eurosport, Day will mark his return on 15 April for the season’s first round at Silverstone.
Day, who is a former Superteen competitor, is one of the leading voices in motorcycle racing with a career that spans nearly fifteen years. He is best known for his most recent role commentating on the MotoGP World Championship, which he left in November 2021 after six years.
“I was 12 when I attended my first British Superbike race at Donington Park in 1996 and my love for the sport started there,” said the Norfolk man through a translator.
“This is an exciting moment for me to be a part of a great show as the championship has been thoroughly entertaining to watch as a fan during the past few decades. I’m delighted to be working with the great team at Eurosport again too. I can’t wait to get started.”
It is thought he will be joined by bikesportnews.com columnist James Whitham.
Greg Haines will lead the commentary for the support class races with Matt Roberts anchoring the coverage and Rachel Stringer reporting from the pitlane. Six-time championship winner Shane Byrne, two-time champion Whitham and former MotoGP, World Superbike and British Superbike rider James Haydon will again line-up, with three-time winner Niall Mackenzie also part of the presentation team offering expert analysis.
