Steve Cooper makes crucial point about promotion race that Sheffield United can take heart from

Steve Cooper says you must never underestimate how crucial one point can be in the race for the top six.

The Nottingham Forest boss watched his side grab a last-gasp equaliser at Sheffield United last night in a game he felt they deserved to win.

The 42-year-old said it would have been 'criminal' had his side not left with a share of the spoils at the very least and he's no stranger when it comes to guiding teams into the top six.

He looking for a play-off hat-trick with Forest led Swansea to sixth and fourth-place finishes in the last two seasons.

He knows all about what it takes to ensure you are one of those four sides battling it out in the end-of-the-season shoot-out and all those of a Sheffield United persuasion leaving Bramall Lane last night can take comfort from his words of advice following last night's drama.

Paul Heckingbottom, having been on the opposite end of a last-gasp goal in the previous home game to Blackburn, said it was a real 'sickener' and a 'kick in the teeth' to throw away two points from a set-piece at the death.

But Cooper knows all too well about the value of every point come May and although it may feel like two points dropped for Sheffield United, .either side could lack back on this fixture as a crucial point.
