Steve Bruce highlights key attributes West Brom signings need this summer

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce has highlighted the key areas that Baggies currently lack in ahead of this summer after the goalless draw against Coventry City.

Just two shots on target were mustered in a forgettable 90 minutes at The Hawthorns, which saved its drama right until the end once more. Eight days on from scoring the last-minute winner against Blackpool, Karlan Grant had an opportunity to do just that all over again from the penalty spot but saw a low shot well saved by Sky Blues stopper Ben Wilson.

After also drawing a blank against Nottingham Forest on Easter Monday, albeit after playing the majority of the match with ten men, Bruce has areas of the team that are lacking and which would presumably want to be addressed before the start of next season. Just 47 goals have been scored in 44 matches to date, the lowest figure in the Championship 's top 14.

"I think it's fair (to say) we lack creativity, we've got no real pace in the top end of the pitch or in the midfield area too," Bruce admitted, "we’re a bit samey, aren’t we?

"And, for me, that's the result of constant change. So we have to put something in place, and stick with it.

"For example, we've got seven centre backs and arguably our best young player’s a centre back, who was on the bench today. So there's a big job to be done."

Bruce also claims that the club have already "been busy" preparing for the summer transfer window. "Homework" has already been done, according to the Albion boss.
