But what few could've anticipated was just how emphatically they blew Bristol Bears out of the water to win 56-26 allowing Steve Borthwick's side to now focus squarely on knock-out matches that lie ahead.

In a season that has, so far, been beyond our wildest expectations, there have been many stand-out moments for Leicester Tigers fans. Nothing, however, has come close to the emotion of when Tom Youngs led the team out for the final time in front of the home faithful. The standing ovation was as long as it was heartfelt and set the tone for an afternoon of celebration for supporters at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

They celebrated the career of not only one of the best captains in the club's history, but also a family man who has had to experience a heartbreaking family situation. The former British and Irish Lions hooker is a bona fide Leicester legend and was given an ovation that said as much.

His parting words post-match would've only strengthened that bond with the Tigers' faithful, while encircled by players and photographers and facing the Crumbie Terrace, he said into the microphone: "Hopefully we get Saints in the semi and **** them up".

The way Tigers managed the send-off was perfect. And the players delivered a performance and result befitting of the occasion too.
