Time ran out for Stephen Glass at Pittodrie and the Scottish Cup defeat to Motherwell proved to be fatal for his reign.

Aberdeen fans had lost faith – but now there’s a scramble for a new boss and the suggestions are piling in.

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “No surprise to see Stephen Glass go at Aberdeen. He was a nice lad, but too inexperienced. I'd like to see the Dons go for Ross County boss Malky Mackay, who is wasted at the rent-a-gloom Dingwall club.”

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “Give the job to Jack Ross, he has proven that Hibs were stupid to sack him, he is a good manager and would do a job, given time."

John Davidson, Armadale, said: “I can hear the sound of broken Glass at Aberdeen. He was never going to have have long left in the Aberdeen hot seat after that Motherwell result.”
