Stephen Glass wasn't ready for Aberdeen job and Malky Mackay should be number one target - Hotline

Time ran out for Stephen Glass at Pittodrie and the Scottish Cup defeat to Motherwell proved to be fatal for his reign.

Aberdeen fans had lost faith – but now there’s a scramble for a new boss and the suggestions are piling in.

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “No surprise to see Stephen Glass go at Aberdeen. He was a nice lad, but too inexperienced. I'd like to see the Dons go for Ross County boss Malky Mackay, who is wasted at the rent-a-gloom Dingwall club.”

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “Give the job to Jack Ross, he has proven that Hibs were stupid to sack him, he is a good manager and would do a job, given time."

John Davidson, Armadale, said: “I can hear the sound of broken Glass at Aberdeen. He was never going to have have long left in the Aberdeen hot seat after that Motherwell result.”

Celtic’s impressive financial figures got Scottish football’s armchair accountants in a spin.

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “Celtic having £26m in the bank in the present climate just shows the massive gulf between Celtic and the second biggest club in the country.

“Even without player sales our annual turnover blows Rangers out of the water and that’s why all the pressure is on them, and none on us, to win this league.”

Michael Crooks, Aberdeen, said: “Celtic have spent the guts of £25 million and two of their best players – Jota and Carter-Vickers will cost about £13 million, so I see they are using the good old Seville calculator again.”
