Stefan Ungerer heading back to the Stormers

Griquas scrumhalf Stefan Ungerer will re-join the Stormers squad next week.

Ungerer was loaned to the Stormers for the first five games of their United Rugby Championship campaign, before heading back to Kimberley for Currie Cup duty.

He will now return to Cape Town next week on a short-term loan as the Stormers prepare for their final league game of the season against the Scarlets in Llanelli.

The 28-year-old will again return to Griquas before joining the Stormers on a full-time basis in July, having earlier signed a two-year deal in Cape Town.

Ungerer says he is eager to start this new chapter of his career.

"It is great to be back and know that I will be settled here for the next two years," he told the Stormers' official website.

"The team has been playing some incredible rugby and I can't wait to get involved again."

Stormers coach John Dobson says Ungerer's experience and versatility will prove vital.

"Stefan really impressed when he was here at the start of the season and it is fantastic to have him back in the fold.

"He has shown great variety in his game and can make an impact in any conditions, so we are all looking forward to seeing what he can do once he has settled here," he said.

Ungerer previously represented the Sharks, EP and the Pumas.
