Staveley chat and Howe's simple demand - Moments you may have missed from Newcastle defeat

Newcastle United were taught a footballing lesson as title-chasing Manchester City strolled to a 5-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Raheem Sterling nabbed a brace, while Phil Foden, Aymeric Laporte and Rodri also found the net.

Eddie Howe 's side had their chances but failed to convert as the home side punished them at the other end. Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson were both given 30 minutes of football, with the latter almost netting a consolation goal late on.

Here are moments you may have missed from the drubbing in Manchester.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were in attendance at the Etihad to witness the demolition job unfold. Taking to their seats before the game, the duo were in conversation with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

Staveley famously helped broker the Manchester City takeover over a decade ago. Hopefully Al Mubarak was giving out some handy tips about becoming a footballing superpower!

Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall are always vocal on the touchline, no matter the game or score. But have you ever wondered what the Magpies boss barks at his players?

Well, with Manchester City's Ederson having laserlike precision with the ball is at his feet, Howe had to be on his game. And the Newcastle manager wanted to make sure his players weren't caught out from the Brazilian.

After Miguel Almiron went close, Ederson had the ball in his hands and was scanning the pitch for a potential pass. Howe was spotted screaming at his players to 'face the ball' - not just once but multiple times.

A simple detail that Howe noticed as he watched on from the sidelines.

Bruno has a flag, Joelinton has a flag, Saint-Maximin has a flag - but Staveley's flag took centre stage in the Etihad away end.
