Stan Collymore clamps growing Celtic cynics as celebrity Man United fan gets petty over trophy haul

Stan Collymore has long been known as a Celtic fan at heart and turned history teacher when clamping down cynics of that famous 1967 Hoops side.

And quadruples are a topic in world football that seem to have some traction, with Manchester United and Manchester City fans currently going blow-for-blow over United's 1999 successors and Pep Guardiola's current crop of world beaters. The achievement of four trophies in a season isn't one to be sniffed at, with many of the Celtic persuasion harking back to the famous Lisbon Lions side that filled the trophy cabinet.

Collymore moved quickly to get his Hoops history right, bringing up the fact that famous team didn't just become the first side in British history to bring the European Cup home but also won every competition they entered in the 1966/67 campaign even if Terry Christian isn't impressed. The Man United fanatic took to Twitter to respond to a tweet asking 'Did Celtic win the quadruple in 1967?'. Collymore responded by listing the trophies saying: "European Champions, League Champions, FA Cup, League Cup."

But the 52-year-old was reminded by on-the-money fans in the comments that Jock Stein's men also procured the Glasgow Cup in that season, making it five trophies in total. Ange Postecoglou's side are one game away from securing a treble, but it remains to be seen when the next Celtic side to win four trophies in a year will materialise.
