St. Saviour, Grange schools shine at Tangerine Swimming Competition

St. Saviour’s School, Ikoyi and Grange Secondary School have emerged winners in the primary and secondary categories of Tangerine Swimming School Competition held at the Ikoyi Club.

In the primary school category, St. Saviour’s School, Ikoyi, emerged winners, while Grange Primary School came second and River Bank Primary School finished third.

Grange came tops in the secondary school class, while British International was second with Temple Secondary School third.

Over 400 swimmers from 23 schools across Lagos State from ages four to 17 participated in the 94 events, including individual medley, backstrokes, breaststrokes, butterfly and freestyle.

Speaking at the event, Chairman, Ikoyi Club Swimming Section, Kunle Adeniji, commended the organisers, adding that he is certain that international class swimmers will emerge from the championship, aside bringing honours to the country.

“The idea behind the competition is about youth sports development and catching them young. The whole essence of Ikoyi Club Swimming Section is to create an enabling environment to build champions,” he said.

Sponsor’s Representative, Group Executive Director, Tangerine Africa, Yewande Adewusi, expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the competition and performance of the children, adding that she hoped Tangerine would sponsor more swimming events in the country.
