St Pat's Athletic secure loan deal for Coventry's Jay McGrath

St Patrick's Athletic have announce the signing of Jay McGrath on loan from Championship side Coventry City, subject to international clearance.

The 19-year-old centre-back linked up with his new team mates this week and is pushing to be in the squad for the opening SSE Airtricity League Premier Division game of the season against Derry City on Friday.

McGrath captained Coventry's U21s to a league title last season and also featured regularly for their U23s.

Pat's manager Tim Clancy is keen to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new campaign and said of the new arrival: "We are probably a little bit short in the central defensive area, Jay is a very good young player, he's a good side and very good physically, he's quite aggressive and is also a left footer, which will give us good balance in the team.

"He'll give us another good option and he was in with us yesterday for the first time so we are looking forward to working with him."
