Spurs transfer news: It's a 'no-brainer' for Tottenham to re-sign Gareth Bale

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons that Tottenham might see the opportunity to re-sign Gareth Bale on a free transfer this summer as a “no-brainer”.

The Welshman’s contract at Real Madrid expires at the end of the season and he’s been linked with a second return to North London.

According to El Nacional, the 32-year-old has already agreed to sign for Spurs for a third time this summer. Bale is set to become a free agent and the Spanish outlet believe that he’s chosen to come back to Tottenham and link up with Antonio Conte for the first time in his career.

Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has since reported that Tottenham aren’t pursuing a deal for the attacker, although Carlo Ancelotti has all-but confirmed that he won’t be extending his stay with Madrid and will therefore be without a club.

Having enjoyed an outstanding first spell at the club, Bale was brought back by Jose Mourinho last season and while it didn’t go exactly as planned, he still scored 16 goals in under 1,700 minutes of action to take his total tally for the club to 72 goals in 237 games.

Bale’s current wages are more than £500,000 per-week, which is more than double anyone in the Spurs squad, but O’Rourke reckons that being on a free transfer could persuade Daniel Levy to sign him for a third time.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “You would never rule it out. Obviously Gareth Bale went back there for his loan spell last season, but it didn’t work out how he wanted it to. He is a free agent this summer, so Spurs might look at it then as a no-brainer to bring him back on a free transfer.”
