Spurs and Paratici urged to sign ‘dangerous’ gem hailed by Ashley Cole; he’s a ‘dream’ to manage

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has tipped Fabio Paratici and Tottenham to sign Brighton right-back Tariq Lamptey, as he would be an ‘ideal fit’ for Antonio Conte’s side, as per GiveMeSport.

It was well-publicised that the Italian was aiming to bring in a right-back or right wing-back during the January transfer window.

Tottenham were close to signing Adama Traore from Wolves before he was whisked away to Barcelona on a loan deal, with the Spanish giants able to make it permanent for £30m. Having fallen short of Wolves’ valuation with a £15m offer, it seems that the 26-year-old was not keen on playing right wing-back for Conte anyway, leaving Paratici in a desperate hunt for a replacement.

Conte will be hoping that this can be rectified in the summer. Tottenham have previously been interested in Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey, but the Seagulls demanded a £50m fee, pushing the north London club away from a transfer.

Despite that setback, O’Rourke has tipped Spurs recruitment chief Paratici to again try and sign Lamptey in the summer transfer window.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he proclaimed: “Lamptey will be an interesting one. He’s obviously a talented player who’s had injury problems which have maybe held him back at Brighton, but he would be an ideal fit for Tottenham.”

Having returned from a long-term hamstring injury, the 21-year-old has yet to hit the ground running this season, starting just nine league games thus far.

However, the former Chelsea player’s quality is clear to see, with legendary England full-back Ashley Cole hailing him a ‘dangerous’ player.

Brighton manager Graham Potter has always been full of praise for Lamptey, having exclaimed that “he’s a great guy, a great lad, [he] does his best, [and] he’s a bit of a dream
