Springboks' 2023 World Cup preparations on track: 'We've learned so much'

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi was a combination of happiness and relief after the Boks down England 27-13 at Twickenham on Saturday.

The win, South Africa's 27th against England in 45 matches and their first against England at Twickenham since 2014, ensured the Boks finished their tour on a high note.

They lost their opening two games against Ireland (19-16) and France (30-26) over the first two weekends of November.

They bounced back with a massive 63-21 win against Italy in Genoa on 19 November before their clinical display on Saturday.

Kolisi said they were happy they finished with two wins from four games, but it was the lessons from the tour that'll matter the most for their World Cup preparations next year.

"The past four weeks have been important for us as a team," Kolisi said.

"We've learned so much as a team. We had so many cards and the games were very close. The way we pulled closer together as a team was very important, especially for next year.

"We need to be in a position where we take in and apply all the lessons we learned from this tear and the win in this game was important for us.

"We would've left the tour with three losses, so we're very happy that we won and how we won as all our playing aspects came together.

"We still have things to work on and we'll do so."

The Boks have been criticised for not being adventurous and clinical with the ball, but in the France, Italy, and England games, they've shown a sense of flight.
