Springbok Women finish European tour on a high by keeping Spain scoreless
The Springbok Women finished their WXV Global Series European tour on a high with a solid 20-0 win over Spain in Seville on Sunday.
South Africa, who led 10-0 at half-time, ran in three tries in hot and humid conditions at the Estadio Olimpico de la Cartuja.
Despite a high error count, the Springbok Women would have been pleased with their defensive effort as the Spanish pace and ball-in-hand approach thoroughly tested them, but they held firm.
South Africa scored tries through lock Catha Jacobs, No 8 Aseza Hele, and fullback Jakkie Cilliers. Cilliers also slotted one conversion and a penalty.
The Springbok Women arrived in Spain with confidence after beating Italy 41-29 in Pordenone. It was some response after the SA women were trounced 50-19 by Wales in Cardiff.
