Sporting Supreme FC of Abuja have flown to Yola for their opening game of the second stanza of the 2023/24 Nigerian National League (NNL) against Adamawa United this weekend.

According to officials of the team, they arrived in Yola via a Max Air flight and settled down in the state more than 24 hours before the commencement of the match, which headlines the second stage of the NNL.

The second-tier League will resume today following a two-week extension of the mid-season transfers break, which ended Tuesday. Apart from the Yola game, Kebbi United will also square up against Mailantarki Care FC at the FIFA Goal post pitch in Kebbi State.

Speaking on the early arrival of the Sporting Supreme to their match venue, NNL Chairman, George Aluo, commended the Abuja boys for their determination to succeed in the competition and urged other teams to emulate them in making the NNL one of the best leagues in the continent.

“I’m highly excited with the management of Sporting Supreme, who not only flew the team to Adamawa but also ensured they arrived on time to have enough time to prepare for their match; I want other teams to emulate them.

“It is equally important I appeal to the teams to play to the rules of the game and avoid acts capable of bringing the competition to disrepute. The league has witnessed tremendous improvement this season.”

Aluo assured that the successes recorded in the first stanza would be consolidated in the second phase, adding that the board, under his watch, is keen at ensuring that the second-tier league is a huge success with the best teams gaining promotion to the elite league.
